‘Ghostbusters’ was always fun to watch growing up and it still is today! I do think though, that’s the most it is for me.

I definitely watched the original a few good times though the second and on I didn’t stick with too strongly. I know there’s some die hard fans out there and I respect that, just find them to be enjoyable at most.

The stars are by far my favorite of the originals, but I was open to the idea of seeing a newer and younger generation take over. I’m most certainly a fan of Finn Wolfhard’s from ‘Stranger Things’ which was cool, but nothing extraordinarily new. Mckenna Grace, for me, was by far the standout of the kids and I’ve loved her in everything she’s been in. Check out my review for ‘Troop Zero’ for a true gem of hers. Logan Kim was fun, I appreciate the Asian representation in a ‘Ghostbusters’ film and Celeste O’Connor who I had just seen in ‘Freaky’ (2020) and was amazing, did a great job in this too!

Paul Rudd in 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' (2021)

Carrie Coon I had never heard of or seen before, but thought she did a pretty good job amongst the stars and for a big leading role. Paul Rudd was probably my biggest sell for the movie just because he’s one of my favorite actors and comedians, from ‘Friends’ to ‘Ant-Man’, he’s the best!

Overall I think it’s a fun family adventure film and if you like all these actors it’s definitely a good time! Pays great homage to the past while feeling like adapting to the ‘Stranger Things’ generation of balancing adventure, comedy, drama, action and thrills!

CGC Grading: Gem Mint 10.0

"[It] relaunches the franchise with a mostly funny and solid offering. Hearkening to the great movies of the 80s, this film follows a group of very capable and hilarious kids who save the world from destruction." - Josh Flanders, Chicago Reader

"It has its moments... but they don't make up for a general flat-footedness and tendency to wobble." - Mark Feeney, Boston Globe

"Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters: Afterlife is what one gets when a franchise finally throws in the towel and gives its fans exactly what they've been waiting for all along." - Linda Marric, The Jewish Chronicle

"The film's main appeal is not what it appropriates from other Ghostbusters pictures, but that it's a nostalgic nod to the Spielbergian family adventures of the same period." - Wendy Ide, Observer (UK)
