"Godzilla vs. Kong" (2021)
An absolutely thrilling ride from beginning to end! I’ve been excited for this one for awhile now. I will admit, I am not as knowledgeable or as big of a fan of Godzilla as say, my friend Jose Babcock is, but I am a fan who loves his monster movies. I grew up with King Kong, the classics, but it was the Peter Jackson film that made me fall in love with the character of Kong. I wasn’t the BIGGEST fan of the previous Godzilla film, but I was more of a fan than I thought I would be of “Kong: Skull Island” (2017).
Kaylee Hottle in "Godzilla vs. Kong" (2021)
When this film was announced, the title alone, as I think for many, was enough of a sell for me. If you love monsters and action movies as much as I do, why WOULDN’T you go see this? Despite it being a monster film though, it does have a pretty stellar cast. I found them all interesting enough and not a big distraction from what we came to watch. Hall, Skarsgard were expected gems, but Kaylee Hottle was a newfound masterpiece and lovely addition to the film. Brian Tyree Henry was an exciting addition, can't wait for his role in Chloe Zhao's "The Eternals" (2021)
Millie Bobby Brown (left) & Julian Dennison (right) in "Godzilla vs. Kong" (2021)
It really is fun to watch, seeing these universes collide, there’s a certain type of hype that I cannot describe when you get to see a movie that combines multiple universes and especially ones that have “vs.” in the title. I felt it when “AVP” (2004) was announced, and more recently felt it when I first saw “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016). Knowing that you’re going into a movie and getting to see these two iconic beings go head to head, it’s a feeling I can’t compare to any others. Regardless if the film ends up being to my liking or not, it’s a great feeling just going in and getting to watch it all happen.
I really enjoyed the music cues more than I thought I would, the CGI is outstanding, and just feels like a really cohesive ensemble piece that’s all there to support “Godzilla vs. Kong” (2021). Feels like “Jurassic Park” meets “Batman v Superman” and I f***ing loved it!

"If you're watching this kind of thing, you're really watching it for the noise, the chaos, the concussive battles. And you will get them. With a couple wrinkles, even." - Bill Goodykoontz,
