Congratulations to @everythingeverywheremovie for the historic Oscar wins and Asian representation. At the same time, we do need to speak about Hollywood’s blindspot on Jews. The “blindspot” that the filmmakers refer to was not accidentally stepping into an antisemitic trope. The blindspot was not including Jews in DEI spaces to begin with, to make sure a Jewish consultant was there to prevent blindspots. This movie was filmed before we launched the JITC Hollywood Bureau and we understand that kind of understanding hadn’t come to Hollywood yet. It has now.
