"Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" (1997)

Alright, maybe not my FAVORITE of the franchise, but certainly FUN enough to add to my 'Gem Mint' collection.

Never seen a more rushed opening! They get RIGHT into it from the beginning! Introduces all of our fighters up front. All of their re-castings. I was so thrown off, yet so excited to see James Remar playing 'Raiden' this time around! Huge fan of Remar's work, especially Showtime's "Dexter". Loved seeing him get some choreographed action sequences!

Was happy to see Robin Shou was back as Liu Kang. He was by far my favorite character. from the first film (though not necessarily my favorite character to play in the games). Always love that Asian representation.

I did find myself liking the previous Sonya Blade more from this one's played by Sandra Hess. Felt her character was better used in the hands of Paul W. S. Anderson.

"Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" (1997)

This one was definitely the 'cheesiest' of the franchise, I had even seen one of the famous lines from this film from videos like 'Worst Movie Scene' on YouTube. So great to see in full context. Not putting it down at all, just adds some good laughs to the experience.

Definitely fun to see more of the classic characters show up. Some awesome surprises for sure! Got some more from Skorpion and Sub-Zero this time around which was fun, but their cinematic versions still hadn't grabbed me yet (see new 'Mortal Kombat' 2021 review).

"Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" (1997)

Again, still found this one fun enough to include in the 'Gem Mint' series! I know this one, let alone the entire franchise, may not be for everyone, but if you're a fan of the games, the characters, and love cheesy action movies like I do, this one's for you! (Though again, the first 'Mortal Kombat' 1995 is my favorite).

CGC Grading: Gem Mint 10.0

"A guilty pleasure more entertaining than the original" - Jon Niccum, Lawrence Journal-World

"Can we call this a cult classic? Does it has very bad visuals, terrible acting and cheesy dialogues? Yes, but at the same time it feels very true to the core of MK, the action editing is great you can always tell what is happening. The music goes along perfect with the action." - Alberto M, Rotten Tomatoes

"So bad it's great!" - William B, Rotten Tomatoes

" - "You're alive" - "Too bad, you'll die" - Easily one of the best piece of dialogue in cinema history. And not only that, the film also delivers stunning battle sequences as well as full-bodied characters with a surprising amount of narrative heft to match." - Dinh V, Rotten Tomatoes

"Not the best but definitely doesn't deserve all that bad talk it gets. Still action packed and very entertaining." - Corey C, Rotten Tomatoes

"I thought it was pretty dank" - bob b, Rotten Tomatoes
