This was a Christmas gift my mom got me after Peter Jackson's "King Kong" (2005) remake came out. I was still riding the wave of his "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and his "King Kong" (2005) film only encouraged my love for him as a filmmaker and my love for filmmaking. Both 'Rings' and 'Kong' had hours of special features that I consider my pre-film school education/spark of what set me off to where I am today. They were my first behind the scenes looks at how movies were made. I was 12 when this came out. Crazy to think how much this film impacted my life and how much has changed since then.
There's some authenticity thing somewhere (what did those ever really mean anyways?), I don't give two sh**s about that. If it is, awesome! I cared more about that when I was 12 or 13 when I first got this gift. Now, all I care about is that my mom went out and found this for me, knowing how much I was into this at the time, and I still have it. Thanks for always feeding my passion, Momma. I don't where I'd be without you.
(highly recommend the extended version)
