“Troop Zero” (2019) directed by Bert & Bertie
You might like this if you like: Lucy Alibar (writer of “Beasts of the Southern Wild”), Mckenna Grace (“Gifted” 2017, “I, Tonya” 2017 wonderful new young actress), Viola Davis (“The Help” 2011, “Fences” 2016 and so many other wonderful films, she’s absolutely amazing in this), Got some “Little Miss Sunshine” (2006) vibes from this, heartfelt good-feel movies, family films, indie dramas, Jim Gaffigan who I was not expecting to be in this was incredible and showed a side I had never seen before, it’s something easy that’s sweet and uplifting
"Troop Zero" (2019)
Rachel (my fiance) found us this sweet little gem of a film I believe from just looking through Mckenna Grace’s filmography after seeing her pop up in a few films we’d been watching but most notably we had remembered her as the Young Carol at age 13 in “Captain Marvel” (2019) and as young Tanya in “I, Tonya” (2017).
Jim Gaffigan (left, cowboy hat), McKenna Grace (middle, blonde) & Viola Davis (far right) in "Troop Zero" (2019)
A beautiful film about not giving up on your dreams and that everybody deserves a chance. It’s a sweet, easy film to watch with the family and sends all the right feels and messages. I may have a bias being as the lead lost her mom (which I didn’t even know going into this movie, didn’t know anything frankly other than Mckenna starring in it). It’s not a huge forefront theme but was a nice backdrop I appreciated in our lead’s character. Not gonna say too much! Just thought it was a sweet little picture to watch on this rainy evening day of quarantine. Hope y’all are staying safe.
